Wow a very close call for a Juvenile Humpback Whale in Ambrose shipping lane in lower NY harbor. While Logging in the channel a Tug towing a barge was coming out of NY. The Humpback was on a collision course with the tug and the Humpback Whale turned before the strike. The Humpback was 10 feet from the Tug, the tug passed by and now it had to deal with the tow rope and barge that was being pulled behind the tug. The Humpback took a few breaths and dove under the tope and barge and popped out on the other side. This was the closest "big ship almost striking a Humpback" that I have seen.
